As an efficient solid-liquid separation equipment, Rotary drum screen is widely used in various water treatment fields and industrial areas. Its structural composition, application areas and limitations are described in detail below.

1. Basic structure:

Cylindrical drum: The core component is a large horizontal or slightly inclined rotating cylinder. This drum is covered with a screen media with specific opening size.
Drive system: An electric motor and gearbox rotate the drum at a slow controlled speed.
Internal structure: Often includes internal flights or baffles to help lift solid.
Spray system: High pressure water spray nozzles are mounted along the top or inside the drum to clean the screenmedia.
Collection trough/hopper: Positioned underneath the drum or at the end to collect the screened solids.
Inlet: The liquid/slurry enters one end of the drum (usually internally)
Outlet: The filtered liquid flows out through the screen media into a collection channel below.
Support structure: A robust frame holds the drum, drive and other component.

2.Key applications:

Municipal wastewater treatment: Primary screening (removing rags, plastics, debris, coarse solids) before biological treatment. Often the first mechanical process.
Industrial wastewater treatment: Screening iffluents from food processing (vegetables, fruits, meat), pulps and paper, chemical plants. etc.
Agriculture: screening irrigation water, manure separation.
Food & beverage processing: Separating solids from process water or product streams (e.g. fruit/vegetable wash water, starch processing).
Pulp & paper: Screening pulp stock.
Stromwater treatment: Removing debris and coarse solids from runoff.
Aquaculture: Filtering intake or recirculating water.
