In seawater desalination, efficient and reliable water intake systems are critical to ensuring consistent water flow and protecting downstream equipment from debris. Our cutting-edge intake system, designed specifically for desalination plants, offers an optimized solution to handle large volumes of seawater while maintaining longevity and durability, even in the most demanding environments.

Our system features high-performance intake screens made of duplex stainless steel, a material chosen for its exceptional resistance to corrosion in seawater applications. The intake system includes a total of four screens (two primary screens and two standby screens), each with a flow capacity of 2100 m³/h. Together, the system ensures a total throughput of 4200 m³/h, meeting the high water intake demands of large-scale desalination plants.

The screen design includes 3 mm slot openings, allowing for effective filtration that protects pumps and other equipment from debris, while still allowing the free flow of seawater. The average slot velocity is carefully controlled at 0.135 m/s, with a maximum allowable velocity of 0.15 m/s, ensuring optimal performance without overloading the system. Water enters the screens through gravity, eliminating the need for complex mechanical input, which simplifies operations and reduces maintenance needs.

Our intake system is equipped with a robust hydraulic system featuring a compressor setup designed for both active duty and standby use. The hydraulic ejector, located 770 meters away from the screens, delivers powerful, reliable cleaning and operational support. This distance ensures that the hydraulic system can operate effectively without compromising the efficiency of the intake screens.

Water depths at the intake site vary, with a maximum depth of 11.71 meters and a minimum depth of 2.215 meters. This range ensures that the intake system can operate under fluctuating conditions without performance degradation. The combination of gravity-fed water inflow and the use of compressed air guarantees consistent water supply and minimizes the risk of clogging, which further extends the system’s operational lifespan.
